Tumbling Squad Program
If your child has been selected to be a member of one of our tumbling squads, it is because we have selected them due to the potential we believe they have to tumble competitively representing both the club & the island.
We are home to the only Tumbling Squad Program in the Channel Islands and our tumbling squad has already produced multiple gymnasts who have medalled at off-island competitions, as well as multiple Regional Champions. We have also had multiple tumblers qualify and go on to compete at the English Championships.
Squad training gives the gymnasts an opportunity to continue to develop higher levels skills (with an aim to compete them) through structured development training sessions with our highly qualified tumbling coaches.
Our two Head Squad Coaches, Bobby & Lara, are the only two Level 3 Tumbling Coaches in the Channel Islands.
Please see below important information regarding your child's space in one of our Tumbling Squads

1. Expectations
Attitude.
The largest part of our selection criteria (more so than natural ability) is the attitude/work ethic a gymnast shows, particularly as they get older. Squad training is hard and involves huge amount of work on strength, conditioning, basics & fundamentals. We will usually only select gymnasts we already believe will continue to work hard on these aspects of training.
The expectation of our squad gymnasts is that they will be supportive team-mates to other members of their squad group, work hard on whatever skill or correction their coach has given them, understand the importance of strength/conditioning/basics and work hard on all of them accordingly and, most importantly of all, want to continue to improve their overall skill level.
Gymnasts who do not show the work ethic or team mentality required can lose their squad space, regardless of ability or progression.
Attire.
Gymnasts must arrive on time to every training session with the following:
Attendance.
For squad gymnasts attendance is monitored closely and is expected to remain between 90%-100%. If your child is unable to attend their session please let their Coach know via email as far in advance as possible.
Poor attendance can lead to a gymnast losing their squad space.
Competitions / Displays.
Our squad gymnasts take part in multiple on & off island competitions every year, as well as a handful of on-island displays.
Full info on which competitions your child will be expected to take part in can be found in the info regarding their specific squad group, however please note all squad gymnasts are expected to take part in on-island competitions we host and any on-island displays when available.
Uniform.
All squad gymnasts will be expected to own a squad training leotard & a squad tracksuit. Gymnasts in squads that are expected to compete off island will also be expected to own a competition leotard, as will any gymnast wishing to compete off-island.
Fees.
The fee for your child's squad group can be found below and must be paid in full, by standing order, on the first of each month.
Losing / Leaving a Squad Space.
We have a large number of gymnasts attending our club and only a limited number of squad places to give. As such gymnasts may be moved out of a squad group, either to an earlier squad group or to a recreational class, if they do not keep up with the rest of their group, or if their are issues with their attitude or attendance as mentioned previously.
Gymnasts may also choose to leave a squad group as they are not interested in competing or continuing to improve. If this is the case we encourage gymnasts to leave the squad group so someone else can take their space, and join a recreational session so they can continue to enjoy gymnastics at the level they wish to take part at.
Gymnasts can be, and often are, invited back to a squad after leaving a group and getting a chance to work at the skills they are struggling with.
